You might think you've encountered maestros of villainy before, but no one conducts a sinister symphony like the Music Meister. The callous crooner is set to appear in The Flash and Supergirl musical crossover, so it's a pitch perfect time to learn all about the rogue. And I promise I'll (mostly) stop with the alliteration, and I won't torture you by attempting to pen a ballad about the Music Meister's past.

In the upcoming crossover, Music Meister will cause problems by placing both Kara and Barry into a coma, in which they find themselves in an unusual alternate reality where life is like a musical. To get out and wake up, they have to go by the script and sing and dance their way to the end. It's not like any scenario either hero has tackled before, and given how Barry's faced sentient gorillas, that says a whole lot. Does super strength or super speed even matter when you have to perform a choreographed dance and find your mark?

We'll find out soon enough. In the meantime, let's dance backwards to the introduction of Music Meister. He sang his first tune in the animated series Batman: The Brave and the Bold in "Mayhem of the Music Meister" back in 2009. The Music Meister doesn't have any ol' set of pipes; he can control others through song. Yes, this means he made characters like Batman, Black Manta, Green Arrow and more bust out into musical numbers, and yes, the results were as delightful as you're imagining.

With his skills, it's no surprise he shares his origin through verse. He was picked on by bullies—that's what bullies do after all—because he was in choir. But when he pitched his voice higher, Music Meister learned he could put those listening to him singing into a trance and make them do his bidding. It's a form of hypnotization, but one that’s much more lively than what we usually see. Instead of following orders like mindless drones, people under Music Meister's spell fight in West Side Story-esque boogie battles and sing their feelings rather than keeping them hidden.

Music Meister doesn't need devices or specialized equipment to use his melodic abilities, but like any stylish villain, he carries an accessory. His music rod looks like an everyday conductor's baton, but it's much more vicious since it's weaponized. The rod fires blasts of energy, and because flair is a thing, the energy blasts look like music notes. He also gets a little rhythmic help with transportation from time to time by hopping aboard a motorcycle shaped like paired eighth notes.

Weapons and a cool ride are all good and well, but we must mention Music Meister's most fashionable ability: the power of the rapid costume change. This doesn't mean he possesses super speed or a specific power for altering outfits in the blink of an eye, he just knows how to make a statement and owns an expansive wardrobe. Zoot suits, sparkling disco outfits, cowboy chaps and a ten-gallon hat—he's open to any ensemble that complements the type of music he's belting out.

His appearance in Batman: The Brave and the Bold gave Music Meister a platform, and he became a popular character among fans. Since his debut number, he's gone on to recur in additional episodes in the animated series, appeared in LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, and dropped by the pages of comic books, specifically in THE ALL-NEW BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD #16. His tour schedule has been busy, and I look forward to seeing what kind of crowds his stop in Central City will bring.

Music Meister will first appear on The CW’s Supergirl on Monday, March 20 at 8 p.m. (7 p.m. CST). After that, he’ll move on to The CW’s The Flash on Tuesday, March 21 at 8 p.m. (7 p.m. CST).
