Everyone has problems. What would you do if you were given a gun and 100 untraceable bullets to solve yours? That’s the provocative question behind Vertigo’s 100 BULLETS by Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso, a touchstone crime and conspiracy series that ran for 100 issues until its conclusion in 2009. However, the series may be ready to fire another shot—this time at the big screen.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, actor Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises, Mad Max: Fury Road) has come on board New Line’s 100 Bullets as producer and with an eye to star. While not yet in production, 100 Bullets does have a script by writer Chris Borelli. However, the plot of the film is being kept tightly under wraps.

Earlier this year, New Line announced that it will produce and develop films based on Vertigo, while Warner Bros. focuses on DC Comics. This is the first Vertigo film news since that announcement, though a Sandman movie with Joseph Gordon-Levitt was announced as being in development prior to that.

If you've never read the 100 Bullets comic, the entire series is available digitally and collected into hardcover deluxe editions which are available in stores.
