“I shall become a bat…”
These words, uttered in 1939’s Detective Comics #33, transformed the life of Bruce Wayne from that of a grieving son into one of the world’s most beloved superheroes. In the years since, Batman has become a detective, a premiere martial artist, a world class strategist and tactician, a member of the Justice League and much, much more. But at the heart of everything is that bat which inspired him and which he’d adapt as a symbol designed to strike fear into the hearts of evildoers.
And it’s also, uncoincidentally, at the center of the just-unveiled logo for The Batman, Matt Reeves’ upcoming Bat-movie that’s poised to make a splash this weekend at DC FanDome: Hall of Heroes. Shared on Twitter today alongside a new, similarly colored Batman illustration drawn by Jim Lee, we suspect it’ll rouse and inspire today’s Batman fans in much the same way that Golden Age bat inspired Bruce.
Check out Reeves’ tweet below, along with both the images he shared. And make sure you check out The Batman’s DC FanDome: Hall of Heroes panel this weekend at 5:30 p.m. PDT.
Excited to share the very first look at our official #TheBatman logo, and some very cool additional #DCFanDome artwork by the amazing @jimlee — see more of #TheBatman at the #DCFanDome global event in the Hall of Heroes this Saturday, 8/22! #TheBatman #DCFanDome #ForTheFans pic.twitter.com/ApfngNbyor
