As announced on Monday, we’re now adding all of the animated shorts from DC Nation on Cartoon Network to the DC Comics website and YouTube Channel for your viewing pleasure. Why? Well, one, because we’re awesome like that, and, two, because those shorts are some of the best things ever and we can’t stop watching them and we only have so much space on our DVRs and if we had to delete one we wouldn’t know what to do with ourselves!

Uh, wait, we mean because we want to share the greatness that are the DC Nation shorts with our fans, of course. Totally all for you guys. Yeah... that’s the ticket...

Anyway, purpose of this endeavor aside, we really do love these shorts and believe that in some alternate universe out there—where pizza is not only healthy for you, but also grows on trees—some of them have become full-fledged shows alongside the likes of Teen Titans Go! and Beware the Batman. In fact, our love is so great, here are 5.2 Reasons We Can’t Stop Watching the DC Nation Shorts!

1. Super Best Friends Forever

Developed by Lauren Faust (who you may know from little shows like Powerpuff Girls, Foster’s Home for Imaginary Creatures and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic), Super Best Friends Forever was an instant hit, following the adventures of Supergirl, Batgirl and Wonder Girl as they kicked butt in the DCU, equal-opportunity style. If we were to pick one thing we loved about these shorts, it would be EVERYTHING.

2. Thunder and Lightning

Speaking of female heroes kicking butt, Black Lightning and his daughters—the eponymous Thunder and Lightning—attempt to deal with the day-to-day experiences that come with trying to balance family life with super hero antics in this series. It’s an extremely entertaining family friendly series and we can’t wait to see more.

3. Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld

Created by Brianne Drouhard with David Productions, the anime-inspired Amethyst is a treat on many, many multiple levels (once you watch it, you’ll appreciate the comedy gold we just gave you). The series plays with both fantasy and video game tropes to hilarious results, and the animation and action are flawless.

4. Tales of Metropolis

One of the newer DC Nation Shorts, Tales of Metropolis also easily ranks as one the funniest things we’ve seen. The Bizarro episode (which was featured in the DC Comics booth this year at SDCC) kicked things off with a pitch-perfect tone, and the recent Lois Lane short brought in even more harmonious hilarity. Plus, it features Batman voiced by Kevin Conroy, which is ALWAYS an amazing thing.

5. Wonder Woman

Dear lord, just... just watch it. It’s incredible. So beautifully stylized. And the music! Just... wow.

5.1 Animal Man

Voiced by freakin’ Weird Al!

5.2 Even More Still to Come—Like Metal Men!

Those are just a few examples of the wonderful shorts that have been going on. There’s a lot more, including the Super Pets, World’s Funnest (by Aardman, the creators of Wallace & Gromit), the gorgeous Bat Man of Shanghai and more! You can find them all right here on our video page. So what are your favorites? Let us know in the comments!
