Usually tornados strike without warning, but this weekend the Supergirl team gave us an early look at one that will be arriving this fall—the sentient android Red Tornado.

Described as “the most advanced android the world has ever seen.  Red Tornado was designed by scientist T.O. Morrow for the U.S. Army as the ultimate superweapon. He soon becomes sentient, posing a grave danger to National City—including the people Supergirl cares about most.”

Red Tornado will be played by actor Iddo Goldberg (Salem, Peaky Blinders). While the character is largely known as a hero in the DC Universe, he originally started as an adversary of Earth-2’s Justice Society of America—whom he soundly defeated before moving to Earth Prime to take on the Justice League.  Time will tell what role he’ll ultimately play on Supergirl, but it’s fair to assume that the first time he runs across Kara, it’s probably not going to be to hang out and watch Mr. Robot. (Though, we have to admit, it would be kind of cool if they did!)
