We couldn’t be happier that Tim Drake has realized the truth behind his feelings for his friend Bernard Dowd and has come out as bisexual. And we love Tim and Bernard together. Seriously, is there a cuter relationship in all of Gotham right now? Heck, in all of the DC Universe? (Okay, that one’s probably open for debate, but you did read their story in DC Pride 2022, right?) Still, while we’re happy for Tim and his new guy, we do really like Stephanie Brown as well. And while their relationship might not have been the right one for either of them in the long run, there was still plenty we all loved about it.
So, forgive us if it’s been a little hard to see Tim flat-out ignoring Steph’s attempts to reach him these past few months. Yes, he’s had a lot going on, and yes, telling her about Bernard is going to be pretty awkward considering all that they once shared, but it’s also more or less inevitable considering they’re both active members of the Bat-Family. And in next week’s DC Pride: Tim Drake Special #1, it seems that moment has arrived.
Helping out a couple of his Young Justice friends as they pursue a glowing, incorporeal elephant that’s running rampant in Gotham (yes, you read that right), the chase leads them right to the Batgirls…and to a conversation for Tim that’s long past due.
How does it go? Well, we’re not going to ruin that, but you can get a sneak peek of what’s in store with this exclusive first look at this must-have new comic for Tim Drake fans. Along with this all-new story from writer Meghan Fitzmartin and artist Belén Ortega, DC Pride: Tim Drake Special #1 also collects the pair’s acclaimed story from Batman: Urban Legends where Tim first embraced his bisexuality. But this sneak peek is all about what’s ahead for Robin #3, so enjoy this little tease and be sure to pick up the full book when it lands in stores next week.
DC Pride: Tim Drake Special #1 by Meghan Fitzmartin, Belén Ortega, Alberto Jimenez Alburquerque, Alejandro Sánchez, Nick Filardi and Luis Guerrero is available Tuesday, June 14 in print and as a digital comic book.
